Grandpa Feldspar is grandfather to Lily Bruin and Penny Feldspar and a minor character in both Under the Lemon Tree and Goblin Hollow. He is set in his ways about people, and being bigoted, he does not approve of neither his daughter marrying a African lion nor his granddaughter dating a bear such as Ben.
Upon arrival to Lily's family reunion, he was livid at seeing Lily and Ben passing a kiss between each other. At dinner, he and his wife started to talk badly about Ben as they sat next to him, speaking Navajo, thinking he would not be aware of the insults. They immediately put in their place when they realized too late that Ben not only understands Navajo, but speaks it as well!
As Ben and Lily were about to leave early, Grandpa Feldspar confronted Ben, giving him an ultimatum: break up with Lily, or he would "get a few of his friends to take him out of the picture". Ben told the old man that he will not, stating his own abilities in strength and shooting accuracy, and adding with the appearance Gunther armed with a pair of pistols, that he "wasn't the only one with 'friends'". The elder Feldspar started making another threat about being attacked, but Ben DARED to make him to explain to the authorities to explain how Gunther and his fellow goblins "vanished into thin air". Ben calmly and coolly told Grandpa Feldspar that he will not tolerate threats from him or he will be put into the nearest convalescent home "babbling about invisible homicidal midgets"; he concluded to the elder Feldspar that he and Lily were both adults, and to not "bring a tomahawk to a shootout".
Grandpa Feldspar was put in his place from there.
