Ads, yay. — 1 Comment

  1. I wish you the best of luck with the new revenue stream.

Unfortunately, ad networks have been used as vectors for malware so often, that even without worrying about cross-site tracking, pop-ups, pop-unders, auto-playing CPU-hogging videos, spending extra bandwidth, deceptive windows, distracting flashing, and so forth, that I use multiple adblockers – Adblock Plus, Better Privacy, Flashblock, Ghostery, NoScript, and RequestPolicy – out of sheer self-defense. I’m as likely to turn off the ad-blocks as I am to turn off standard anti-virus software, for the same reasons.

But most people don’t go to the same level of defense I do; only around 20% of people even use Firefox, which is capable of that level of paranoia, so there should still be plenty of ad impressions.
