Well, I was told of someone my maternal grandfather knew who would prepare for a period of drinking by eating a while stick of butter in the theory it would absorb or slow the absorption of the alcohol, or maybe help it burn off faster.

I've got an uncle who many years ago instead of butter would just spread Lard on his bread.

Spent the day at the Fort Worth zoo...and did dinner and a movie...near 9500 days I've been with this woman...and 9500 nights.

What a ride!

That means you've only got a couple years until you reach ten thousand nights and a night...better start planning. ;)

Not sure of the implication of "You just bought me flowers." Either (a) she was expecting something more than flowers; (b) she doesn't like flowers at all, or at least she resents having to nurture them; (c) she just bought herself flowers but expects him to pay her back; (d) she has other things on her mind, but part of her acknowledges a minor bright spot that she discovered upon coming home; or (e) "just" means "recently" and the flowers are already wilting.

I'm thinking probably closest to (d)

Sort of..."C"...She was having a bad day...bought herself some flowers on the way home...and is basically declaring that they're from me to make her feel better...

Not a "pay back" thing...we're a couple...not a loan institution. :)
